The Hālau of ʻŌiwi Art was envisioned as a center created through the mana‘o and guidance of our islands’ kumu hula and hālau hula. Its purpose is to advance the cultural, social, and historical impact of Native Hawaiian ʻŌiwi art and practices—fostering a space where tradition, creativity, and community can thrive together.
KKL Collective supported the vision and planning of the Hālau of ʻŌiwi Art, working with kumu hula, hālau hula, and cultural practitioners to help shape a center grounded in Hawaiian values and creativity. Hālau of ʻŌiwi Art will be dedicated to the study, practice, celebration, and perpetuation of Hula and the diverse ʻŌiwi arts connected to it. Through this work, the project will empower people across Hawai‘i and beyond to sustain these living traditions and ensure they flourish for generations to come.
